Jeffrey Sachs--twice named one of the "100 most influential people in theworld" by Time Magazine--will be at NYU on Wednesday, October 8, to bringtogether issues of politics, culture, global health, economics, andsustainable development as he assesses the current trajectory of globaleconomic problems and presents possible solutions for the future. Dr. Sachsis currently Director of the Earth Institute, Quetelet Professor ofSustainable Development, and a Professor of Health Policy and Management atColumbia University. Additionally, he serves as Special Advisor to UnitedNations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon. From 2002 to 2006, he was theDirector of the United Nations Millennium Project and has dedicated much ofhis professional career to the alleviation of extreme poverty and thedevelopment of environmental sustainability. He has authored two New YorkTimes bestsellers: The End of Poverty and Common Wealth.
