Message from the NYU College Democrats

Message from the NYU College Democrats:

For those of you who missed our first meeting of the semester last Thursday, we announced our project for the next few weeks:

We are going to organize a massive, campus-wide voter registration and absentee ballot drive for next Wednesday night (September 24th) from 7-10PM.

Early next week, a campus-wide e-mail will be sent out by ResEd announcing our drive. Fliers will be posted in every dorm. During the evening next Wednesday, RA's will go door to door asking students if they are registered to vote and if they need any assistance in obtaining an absentee ballot.

While this is happening, NYU College Democrats and NYU Students for Obama volunteers will staff tables in the lobby of nineteen NYU residence halls, simultaneously. We will be registering students to vote in their home states, and, at each table, we will have a printer and a laptop computer, with the ability to print absentee ballot request forms for students, on demand.

If you live in one of the following dorms, we need your help!

Broome
Coral
Carlyle
Lafayette
26th St.
Water St.
(Goddard is covered! Cynthia & Sindhu)

In order to assist us in registering students to vote, you must go through a volunteer training (believe us, this stuff is complicated, and we want you to be comfortable making sense of different rules in different states). If you were at the meeting on Thursday and signed up to help out, but couldn't make it to our training on Sunday afternoon, we will have an alternate training session this Thursday night, at 8PM in room 909 of Kimmel.

For those of you who are hearing about this for the first time
and want to be a part of this, come to our training session Thursday night at 8PM in room 909 of Kimmel, and learn how to register your fellow students to vote...anytime, anywhere.

I'll see you there,

Neal Shechter

President, NYU College Democrats
